The New Jersey room presents an early 20th-century interpretation of a 17th century English Council Chamber. The room has undergone few changes from its original installation in 1910. The wood used in the paneling and furniture came from the oak timbers of the British frigate Augusta, sunk during the Revolutionary War and salvaged 100 years later. The stained glass windows depict famous places and events in New Jersey. The portraits along the top of the wall depict New Jersey signers of the Declaration of Independence.
The New Jersey Period Room Lobby Virtual Tour is a gift of the New Jersey State Society DAR.
