Real Estate
Real estate is a significant gift that requires more structure than other gift types. A donor has many options to consider and may need the services of an attorney and appraiser as well as consultation with NSDAR gift planning staff when considering such a gift.
All gifts of real estate valued at $50,000 or more must be appraised by an independent appraiser and have a Phase I Environmental Study at the donor's or the estate's expense before acceptance of the gift. This is required by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for tax reporting purposes.
Those who leave property to NSDAR in the form of a will are eligible for membership in our Founders Club. Those who donate property during their lifetime are eligible for membership in our Heritage Club based on the value of the property.
