Welcome to the new DAR Museum Web Site. If you are not familiar with our museum, we hope that you will take some time to "tour" our period rooms, learn about our educational programs, and read about our latest exhibition. The DAR Museum has often been called "the best-kept secret in Washington" and we want that to change. We've been hiding our light under a bushel for too long. We have an amazing collection of objects made or used in America before the Industrial Revolution, many given over the years by DAR members. Because of that association, we have many objects with wonderful family associations, as well as artifacts related to women and women's history.
The DAR Museum is comprised of 31 period rooms and 2 galleries. Our collection consists of over 30,000 decorative and fine arts objects spanning the 18th and 19th centuries, including furniture, glass, ceramics, textiles and silver. We offer free walk-in tours, free exhibitions, and several interesting programs for all ages. Thank you for taking the time to explore our site as you plan your visit to the DAR Museum. Be sure to check our Calendar of Events for information on special tours, programs and workshops.
We look forward to seeing you!
