The Texas Room
(Click photo for larger image)

The Texas room reflects the multi-cultural settlement of the American West from the mid to late 19th century with this recreation of a German immigrant farmhouse found in Alleyton, Texas. The decorative motifs and furnishings bring to mind the Germanic contributions to American decorative arts. The walls are hand-stenciled with designs found in the farmhouse. During the year three mid 19th century Texas-made quilts are displayed in the room on a rotating basis.
