Many of the wedding traditions we think of as “timeless” can be traced only as far back as Victorian times; others seem to have early pagan origins. Some are exclusively Anglo-American or European, while others have equivalents worldwide. Alden O’Brien, Curator of Costume and Textiles, will explore some things old, some things new, and some things foreign and domestic in her talk about American wedding dresses, accessories, and other traditions from colonial to modern times.
