Historical Significance:

The Alta Vista Cemetery has been in continuous operation for 150 years. The "DAR Lot" includes the graves of two Revolutionary War veterans and the spouse of one. Also, the site includes a memorial to those who fought in World War I.

Planted and dedicated by Colonel William Candler Chapter DAR as a memorial to Hall County's immortal dead in the World War. This is followed by the name of 32 soldiers.

The entire cemetery is maintained by the city of Gainesville. The DAR Lot is landscaped and sponsored by the Colonel William Candler Chapter, NSDAR.
