Historical Significance:
The Savannah Theater is the oldest in the U.S. in active operation. It opened in 1818 with a comedy. It is the only "Broadway" style professional live show in Savannah and is open all year. The structure has had a few face-lifts due to fire damage. In 1948 it was remodeled to the present 40's art deco style. There is a museum in the lobby.
