| Job Description: The National Society seeks a full-time (40 hours per week) Security Officer to join the staff of the NSDAR Security Department.
Duties involve greeting visitors, issuing visitor passes and operating security equipment. Security officers are responsible for ensuring safety and security protocols are followed, contacting departments upon arrival of visitors, receiving and logging- in deliveries and securing items, patrolling and securing premises and performing routine security functions including opening/closing of the building, turning on/off alarm systems and responding to emergencies.
Minimum six months security experience, preferably in a museum environment, and high school diploma or equivalent required. Candidates must have the ability to work with the public in a highly professional and customer service friendly manner. Excellent judgment, decision-making skills and the ability to keep information confidential are required. Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to stressful or emergency situations is absolutely critical.
Candidates must also successfully meet the D.C. Metropolitan Police security eligibility requirements for a Special Police Officer or a Security Officer license.
