The Wide Blue Sash
Since 1890, 42 women have served the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution as President General. Elected to this high office by the Continental Congress, each woman has carried forward her vision and goals for NSDAR. The Wide Blue Sash gives a glimpse of the background, character, leadership and accomplishments of those who have worn the wide blue sash as they represented and led the more than 916,000 women who have been members over the past 123 years. Their leadership has allowed the NSDAR to become the largest female lineage society in the country and owner of a city block of iconic buildings in Washington, D.C. The book also includes biographies of the Society's four Founders and its only President Presiding, Mary Ellet Cabell.
