The South Carolina room represents a bedchamber dating from 1810 to 1820. The walls are painted yellow, a color fashionable during this period. Baseboards were commonly painted black to hide dirt and scarring. The mantel came from a house in Edgefield, South Carolina. The dressing table is in front of the window for maximum light. The bedstead, made in South Carolina, features rice-shaped carvings.
