It's More Than A Seat
Seats Sponsored Thus Far
A Message from the President General
During this time of giving thanks, we greatly appreciate the vision of the generous Daughters who built and maintained one of the largest, and certainly one of the most beautiful, complex of buildings owned entirely by women. We should all be proud of our shared heritage at 1776 D Street!
Now, it is our responsibility to see that our headquarters continues as a “House Beautiful,” and, in particular, that DAR Constitution Hall continues to stand as a monument to the Constitution of the United States of America. With #GivingTuesday just a week away I need YOUR help to restore 1,000 Seats in DAR Constitution Hall! Make YOUR donation NOW to help us restore, reupholster and reset the seats in our storied auditorium — and your gift may be matched!
DAR Constitution Hall: The Next Act
I know that many Daughters can still recall their first visit to DAR Constitution Hall. Having welcomed U.S. Presidents, heads of state and world-famous performers, the rows of chairs in our magnificent Hall represent so much more than merely a collection of seats. Each one signifies a moment in our treasured history, each one is a witness to our past — each one is so much MORE THAN A SEAT!
You may sponsor an individual seat for $300 or make a contribution at a level that better meets your needs. ALL donations are welcome. This project will only succeed if we are fortunate enough to have individuals, families, chapters and state societies step forward and work together toward our goal of restoring 1,000 seats for #GivingTuesday!
A Generous Daughter Steps Forward to Help
Thanks to a special Matching Challenge Grant from an anonymous donor, the first $10,000 of donations made to our #MORETHANASEAT campaign will be matched “dollar for dollar!” So, if your circumstances allow, we hope that you will help with our goal.
The MORE THAN A SEAT campaign is not just about refurbishing the seats in DAR Constitution Hall. This campaign is the first step in the historic restoration of a venue that has meant so much to not only our organization but also to our nation. It serves as a monument to one of our Patriot ancestors’ greatest triumphs: The Constitution of the United States of America. Honor their brilliance and the document that charted the dynamic course for our Democracy within a Republic with a donation today.
I am in awe of the bold, dynamic women who not only founded our Society but also built our complex of buildings. I ask you to join me in honoring their achievements. It is, indeed, time to Rise and Shine for America, DAR and our historic home.
Rise and Shine for America,
Denise Doring VanBuren
