DAR Helping to Raise Awareness of Heart Disease
DAR Has Gone Red!

WASHINGTON, DC - The DAR Headquarters Building was a sea of red both inside and out on Friday, February 1 – the day the organization participated in kicking off National Heart Month. In support of the American Heart Association’s campaign to bring awareness to the risk of heart disease, DAR lit its historic building with red lights and the DAR leadership and headquarters employees were decked out in their favorite red attire.

Too few people realize that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women – and of men. The good news is that heart disease is largely preventable. Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s nationwide movement that celebrates the energy, passion and power necessary to wipe out heart disease. Thanks to the millions of supporters across the country, the color red and the red dress have become linked with positive change and the ability women have to improve their heart health. Research has also indicated that simple changes will result in stronger and healthier lives.

Join the Go Red For Women movement and take the Go Red Heart CheckUp online for free at www.goredforwomen.org.  Take heart disease personally – visit the American Heart Association and the Go Red For Women Web sites to gain knowledge and gather tools to take positive steps to reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke.

Thank you for your support of Go Red For Women and National Hearth Month. Your involvement in the movement can help save lives of mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters, grandmothers, best friends, and other women just like you!
