We welcome serving as the stunning backdrop for your special occasions from engagement shoots to family portraits as well as general filmography.
All photography and filming at DAR Headquarters requires a permit. No shoots may be conducted on site without prior approval.
- When is a permit required?
- Is the primary purpose of your visit to capture photos of you, your family or a group?
- Will a photographer, professional or otherwise, paid or not, be accompanying you to take the photos?
- Are you or your subjects wearing any formal attire and/or coordinating casual wear?
- Will you be profiting from these photos and/or promoting a brand?
If the answer is “yes” to any of the above, then you are required to obtain a photography permit.
No photoshoots are permitted during prime tour hours of 10 AM to 4 PM/Monday-Thursday and never on Fridays or Saturdays.

- Is there a fee for the permit?

For exterior shoots only, we allow (1) free hour. For time beyond that, there is a $350/hourly rate. Interior shoots and any filming are subject to our Rental Rates.
- How far in advance do I need to schedule a photoshoot?

We require at least two weeks in advance. Our spaces are booked with other events, public museum hours, and other programs. As our availability varies, we want to ensure you can take your photos without imposing on our events and vice versa.
For the free hour, if an event is booked it takes priority. Your photoshoot will either be cancelled or rescheduled.
- What if it rains or I need to reschedule?

We understand that weather or other issues arise. As long as we receive at least 24 hours notice, we can reschedule your shoot for another day.
- Do you book multiple shoots at the same time?

No, we only permit one photoshoot at scheduled time.
- Is a permit required for weddings?

No, permits are waived for photography occurring during a booked event if they are part of the vendor team as hired by the Licensee.
