On October 11, 2015, the 125th anniversary of the founding of DAR, chapters from coast to coast participated in special service projects within their local communities, uniting to demonstrate the combined impact of our DAR mission. The inaugural National DAR Day of Service gave members a chance to join together in a nationwide effort to illustrate our National Society’s collective commitment to America on the day of our founding.

Read about the success in the DAR Day of Service news release and view photos from the various events in the DAR Day of Service slideshow.

Chapters participate in many different types of service activities throughout the year such as volunteering at local food banks or homeless shelters, honoring veterans with special celebrations, hosting reading festivals at local libraries, cleaning up local historic cemeteries or parks, sponsoring genealogy workshops or giving lectures on local history, among many other activities. The options are limitless and DAR members will be giving back to their local communities in a variety of ways on the National DAR Day of Service.
