The DAR Museum, located in the NSDAR Headquarters, collects, preserves, and interprets objects used and created in American homes. Using the lens of the varied interpretations of home, we inspire conversations about the diverse American experience encouraging people to discover common ground. You will see a main gallery with an exhibit that changes annually, and a study gallery where you can get close to the museum objects and we have guided tours of the period rooms (each arranged to look like a different time and place in American history) on the hour.
Explore the American Home! Each of these period rooms looks like you’re stepping into a room from the past. You can peek into an 1810s bedroom, 1820s dining room, 1860s parlor, and many more.
You may explore the Exhibit and Study Galleries at your own pace any time during open hours. Guided tours are available Monday-Friday at 11am and 2pm, and Saturday at 11am and 1pm for walk-in visitors. We strongly encourage you to book in advance because tours will fill up!
For Groups of 10+: Contact Museum with subject line “Group Tour Request - [group name]”
If there is a volunteer docent on duty, they will be stationed in the lobby outside the main gallery to give tours to walk-in visitors. GROUPS of 1-9 people or less do not need to make advanced reservations.
For GROUPS MORE THAN 10: Please send an email to: Karen Britton
