13th Annual DAR Christmas Open House

The 13th Annual DAR Christmas Open House was held on December 10, 2014 at DAR Memorial Continental Hall.

The outside of DAR Headquarters is festively decorated for the holidays.

Santa stopped by the Open House to hear requests from young visitors.

In collaboration with Books for America, the DAR Christmas Open House included a special children's book drive which benefited local children.

DAR Museum Docents were on hand to provide visitors with information about the period rooms.

Holiday music is provided by this high school orchestra group in the DAR Library.

Open House visitors were invited to enjoy cookies and hot cocoa in the O'Byrne Gallery.

Visitors were able to talk with DAR genealogists and Library staff about research at the DAR.

The DAR Museum exhibition, "Eye on Elegance: Early Quilts of Maryland and Virginia" was enjoyed by all Open House visitors.

A flute ensemble group plays holiday music in the Connecticut Board Room.

DAR Museum Docents introduced the historically decorated Period Rooms to many new visitors.

Young visitors participated in a special holiday craft with DAR Museum staff.

The DAR Christmas Open House is the perfect holiday outing for the whole family.
