Spain and the Birth of American Democracy: A History Symposium

This symposium, created in collaboration with the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute, will take place in DAR Constitution Hall from September 19-20, 2025 and will explore Spain's contributions to the American Revolution.

The 250 trees along the DAR Pathway of the Patriots serve as a living tribute to honor the memory and the spirit of the men and women who achieved American Independence.

American Revolution Experience

From an award-winning website to an in-demand pop-up exhibition, the American Revolution Experience, a collaborative project of the American Battlefield Trust and the Daughters of the American Revolution is beginning a new phase in its quest to connect modern audiences with the fascinating story of our nation’s origin.

DAR Celebrates America 250! Weekend

On Saturday April 18, 2026, the DAR is excited to be hosting two special events:

America's Birthday Party at DAR Headquarters - This FREE family friendly event will take place throughout DAR Headquarters in the morning of the 18th and will have many activities geared for children and adults alike. Come celebrate our nation's birthday with us!
DAR Celebrates America 250! A Salute to Women Veterans, featuring Patti LaBelle! - This evening concert will take place in DAR Constitution Hall and will begin with a short program recognizing women veterans and organizations that support them, including the vital work of the Military Women's Memorial. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster and proceeds from the concert will support DAR’s efforts supporting women servicewomen and veterans past and present!

America 250! Collaborator Highlight: The Queen Sofia Spanish Institute

The Queen Sofía Spanish Institute is a nonprofit corporation that strives to share the contributions of Spanish-speakers to the United States by showcasing the excellence of the Spanish-speaking world in numerous fields.

QSSI launched the America&Spain250 Initiative to highlight the history between Spain and the United States. As a part of this initiative, and in conjunction with DAR's America250! programming, DAR and QSSI are hosting a two day history symposium in September 2025 entitled Spain and the Birth of American Democracy that will have top scholars, panel discussions, and other events related to the Revolution. ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

The United States Semiquincentennial Commission, established in July 2016, assumes the task of facilitating nationwide plans to observe the historic anniversary of our country's founding. Leading up to the commemoration, this body will play a central role in shaping the anniversary narrative on a national level. Members of the group will submit recommendations for the consideration of the President and Congress, and assist with the execution of the approved itinerary.

DAR is honored that Honorary President General Lynn Forney Young was appointed to be a member of the Commission and has been working diligently to ensure this national celebration is a meaningful success.

America250 Partnership

DAR was the first heritage society to formally partner with America250. America250 is the nationwide commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary in 2026 led by the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission. The agreement outlines a number of initiatives developed by the DAR to honor Revolutionary War Patriots, engage youth through contests and educational programming, and support efforts to better tell the story of underrepresented and diverse Patriots who helped to win the American War of Independence.
