The chapter will organize and host an America 250! Celebration event at the Albuquerque Public Library on June 6, 2026 from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon. The event will include the opening of a two-month educational exhibit about the American Revolution which was curated by the chapter America 250! committee. In addition, the event includes a panel discussion with renowned historian and author Thomas E. Chavez and others, reading of a City proclamation, followed by a reception.

The event will be free and open to the public. The panel will discuss the ideals, sacrifices, and leadership that shaped our nation’s founding. The event will also highlight New Mexico’s role in American Independence through the screening of a short documentary film about the Spanish Patriots from New Mexico.

In conjunction with the public discussion, the exhibit will include two educational banners (33.5 x 80) illustrating the key political, social, and cultural events leading up to July 4, 1776 and a listing of New Mexico's Spanish American Patriot ancestors who were instrumental in supporting efforts of the colonists in securing liberty, freedom, and independence through military, monetary, diplomatic and tactical support. The curated exhibit focuses on a number of themes: the Founders, Thomas Paine and Common Sense, International Military Leaders and Bernardo de Galvez, the Declaration of Independence, Native American and African American Patriots, Women's role in the American Revolution including serving as Spies.
