SERVICE TO AMERICA
The Service to America initiative encourages members to become involved in community service to discover the rewards of volunteerism, to demonstrate the positive volunteer opportunities associated with DAR members to others and to help make their local communities a better, more friendly place. DAR members are giving back to their communities in appreciation for the nation they love!
On October 11 every year DAR members from coast to coast celebrate the anniversary of the founding of DAR by participating in the National DAR Day of Service.
When you join the DAR, you enter a network of more than 190,000 women who form lifelong bonds, honor their revolutionary ancestors and promote historic preservation, education and patriotism in their communities.
Encompassing an entire city block, DAR Headquarters is one of the world’s largest buildings of its kind owned and maintained exclusively by women.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Its members are descended from the Patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War.
