Description
Houston Christian University recently accepted a 20" x 20" bronze Patriot Marker from the Samuel Sorrell Chapter, NSDAR, honoring the Patriots of the American Revolution. The marker is prominently displayed at the entrance to the university’s three adjoining museums: the Museum of American Architecture & Decorative Arts, the Museum of Southern History, and the Dunham Bible Museum.

The university was founded by the late Stewart Morris and Joella Morris. Mrs. Morris established the university’s museums and was a dedicated member of the Samuel Sorrell Chapter for 64 years, making the placement of the marker an especially meaningful tribute to both Revolutionary patriotism and her enduring legacy.

Join the Samuel Sorrell Chapter, NSDAR for a dedication of this plaque on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 1:30pm. This event is free and open to the public.
