Description
Celebrate the anniversary of the arrival of the Declaration of Independence to New Hampshire in 1776 at the 36th American Independence Festival on Saturday July 11th, 2026 10 am to 4 pm in downtown Exeter, NH (Water St.) This year, admission is again FREE!

The street is blocked off and filled with fun and historical vendors and orgs. The Exeter Chapter, NSDAR will host a tent/table that features a look at their Patriot Ancestors, and more. Stop by and say hello! Exeter NH was the capital of NH during the 8 years of the Revolutionary War. NH was created in this picturesque village.

The grounds of the American Independence Center will feature: living history enactors in a working village, Redcoats and 1776 townsfolk milling about the event. The Declaration will arrive by horseback and be read aloud from the hill to the crowd. Because democracy isn't something we did, it is something we are still doing!
