Description
Four Austin-area DAR chapters (Austin Colony, Andrew Carruthers, Balcones and Thankful Hubbard) have partnered with Austin Community College’s Center for Government and Civic Service (CGCS) to host the American Revolution Experience traveling exhibit April 14-25 in CGCS's event facility on the Rio Grande Campus.

CGCS faculty and students are planning engaging talks, demonstrations, and cultural programs focusing on the people and events of the Revolutionary Era, by working with various academic departments (History, Government, Art/Dance/Drama/Music, Culinary). DAR members are hosting genealogy workshops to help visitors discover their own family ties to the Revolution; planning an opening night reception featuring the presentation of DAR awards and certificates; hosting a Community Day focusing on family-friendly programming, and featuring local SAR chapters; and promoting membership in DAR, SAR and C.A.R., among many other events and activities.

Together, these events and programs will highlight the diverse stories and voices of those who shaped the nation’s founding, and honor the men and women who secured American independence while inspiring reflection on the nation’s shared heritage and enduring ideals of liberty and unity.

This event is free.
