Description
The Friendship Oak Chapter, NSDAR, will host an America 250! celebration at the St. Martin Public Library featuring educational and hands-on activities for both adults and children. Attendees will learn about the creation and signing of the Declaration of Independence, including fascinating facts about the document and its principal author, Thomas Jefferson.

Following the presentation, participants will paint patriotic messages on rocks that will be displayed throughout the community and around the library to inspire patriotism. Prospective Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.) members will participate in a public reading of the Declaration of Independence, and attendees will have the opportunity to sign a replica copy of the historic document.

The chapter will distribute America 250! flags, U.S. flags, and patriotic bells to encourage participation in Bells Across America, concluding the event with a one-minute bell-ringing ceremony. In addition, the chapter will create patriotic displays in the library's display cases featuring a copy of the Declaration of Independence and will donate patriotic books to the library for the community to enjoy. This event is free and open to the public.
