Description
Join the Church and Cannon Chapter, NSDAR, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Springfield Historical Society, and the 3rd New Jersey Regiment ("Jersey Greys") as we celebrate the 246th anniversary of the Battle of Springfield. The afternoon starts at the DAR Battle Ground Cemetery with a wreath laying and reading of the names of the Revolutionary War soldiers buried in Springfield. We will then proceed to the statue of the Continental Soldier in front of the First Presbyterian Church for a second wreath laying by the members of the Sons of the American Revolution. The afternoon continues at the historic Cannon Ball House with colonial games, musket demonstrations, colonial crafts, tours of the house (which was hit by friendly fire during the battle), and more! This event is part of a series celebrating Springfield America 250!.
