Members of the Clough Valley Chapter and the Cincinnati SAR gather at Union Cemetery in Milford, Ohio, to honor Revolutionary War Patriot Private Isaac South.

On May 10, the Clough Valley Chapter, Milford, Ohio held a grave marking ceremony at Union Cemetery to honor Private Isaac South. Chapter members, local residents, and representatives from Miami Township, Clermont County, the office of U.S. Representative Taylor, and the Cincinnati Sons of the American Revolution.

The ceremony included a color guard presented by the Cincinnati SAR, a brief presentation on the American Revolution, and an educational segment about Private South. The Daughters of the American Revolution and SAR markers were unveiled separately due to saturated ground conditions.

Private Isaac South, born March 10, 1760, in Windsor Township, New Jersey, served in the Middlesex County Militia in support of the Continental Army. He moved to Clermont County, Ohio with his family in 1817, and died April 26, 1826. Two of his children are also buried at Union Cemetery.

Private South is one of more than 300 Revolutionary War Patriots buried in Clermont County. The Daughters of the Clough Valley Chapter are dedicated to learning about these brave individuals and educating their communities.
