Bonneville Chapter News
The Bonneville Chapter, Lexington, Nebraska, is celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by honoring the legacy of the past while looking toward the future. The 101-year-old Marjorie Allison of Cozad, Nebraska, was recently honored at Meadowlark Pointe by receiving her DAR membership. On the same day, she passed on to eternal life. Her granddaughter, chapter member Traci Woodside, received notification at the same time. Allison’s recognition reflects the enduring legacy of patriotism and service that the chapter is proud to celebrate during the America 250! Semiquincentennial.
The chapter is commemorating the Semiquincentennial by burying a time capsule in the Never Forget Garden at the Dawson County Historical Museum. Items in the capsule include a document predicting the future of the town in the year 2051, the last printed copy of American Spirit magazine, a cell phone, a Clipper-Herald newspaper, photos of current chapter members, a list of all members since 1913, a KRVN radio news flash drive, and a Hot Wheels toy representing the most popular vehicle sold this year. The chapter is also adding bricks bearing veterans’ names to the pavilion at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park and will assist in patriotic concerts and programs there.
