Colonel Arthur Forbis Chapter News
The Colonel Arthur Forbis Chapter, Greensboro, North Carolina, welcomed new citizens during a recent naturalization ceremony. Forty-eight people recently became United States citizens in Greensboro. Judge Lindsay Freeman administered the Oath of Allegiance, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Each new citizen received a certificate of naturalization and shared their name, country of origin, and humble words of appreciation. Some reflected on their long journey to citizenship and of their love for America. As they exited the podium, they were each greeted by members of the chapter.
Chapter Regent June Curlott was all smiles and said: “We’ve been taking part in these ceremonies for many years. It’s a lot of fun to be here, serve refreshments, and welcome our new citizens with an American Flag and pocket copy of the U.S. Constitution.”
Citizenship requires passing an American civics test. Test your knowledge by exploring sample questions on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website. Chapters may also contact a regional Supervisory Immigration Services Officer to host a reception at a Naturalization Ceremony.
