Description
In anticipation of the 250th anniversary of General Herkimer’s March in 2027, the Oneida Chapter, NSDAR, is sponsoring a commemorative bus tour retracing the historic 40-mile route from the Herkimer Home State Historic Site to the Oriskany Battlefield State Historic Site during an all-day road trip on July 18th, 2026. Limited to 56 participants, the tour will travel along the march trail, stopping at all 14 historic markers, many originally placed by local DAR chapters, for special rededication ceremonies in advance of the 250th anniversary observance taking place August 3–6, 2027.

This event commemorates the vital role of General Herkimer and the Battle of Oriskany in securing America’s independence. By preventing the British forces led by Brigadier General Barry St. Leger from joining General Burgoyne at Saratoga, the battle helped pave the way for the American victory at Saratoga, widely recognized as a turning point in the Revolutionary War.

As a signature America 250! event for Oneida and Herkimer Counties, this commemorative program highlights the region’s pivotal Revolutionary history and will be featured on the Oneida County Tourism website.

Tickets are $30 per person, please RSVP by June 10th. See instructions on image for how to RSVP & pay for your seat.
