Description
250 Years of Heroes is a tribute event to all soldiers who have fought for our country since the Revolutionary War to present. The event will take place in the Andrew Cemetery in Andrew, Iowa, on May 23, 2026. This location was chosen as it is the resting place for Ansel Briggs, the first governor of Iowa; Lawrence Van Hook, Revolutionary Patriot; and dozens of others who served in the War of 1812, Civil War, World Wars I and II, and Vietnam.

This event is the combined effort of the Lawrence Van Hook Chapter NSDAR, the Pioneer Cemetery Association, and Tri-County Historical Societies. Activities will include music from a live band, recorded music, a vocalist for the National Anthem, a Civil Air Patrol drill demonstration, a special dedication for Littlefield (War of 1812), historical readings related to each war, wreath and flag distribution, informational tables for participating organizations. Guests are invited to sign an enlarged copy of the Declaration of Independence, which will be used in the Independence Day parade.

This event is free and open to the public.
