Description
The Lake Minnetonka Chapter, NSDAR will be donating a Liberty Tree and commemorative DAR plaque to our home community of Wayzata, Minnesota, in honor of America 250! and our chapter Patriots. Working closely with city government officials, the Wayzata Library has been chosen and approved by the City Council as the site for the tree. A dedication ceremony will be held in June 2026 with the theme, “Celebrating the Values of the American Revolution.” The values of LIBERTY, EQUALITY, SELF-SACRIFICE, HONOR, and UNITY written into our founding documents will be woven throughout the dedication. The ceremony will include a reading of the Declaration of Independence accompanied by a violin solo, a reading of select chapter Patriot stories that exemplify our founding values, and an opportunity for members to place a flag at the site of the tree to honor their own Patriots. A250! Commendation Medals and Certificates will also be presented to Wayzata Interim City Manager Aurora Yeager; Wayzata Forester, Bennet Myhran; and Sun Sailor Newspaper Reporter, Jay Morgan, who have all enthusiastically supported our community gift and America’s 250th birthday. The ceremony will conclude with a group photo and a dessert reception. Liberty Tree Dedication is free to attend.
