At noon on July 11th the Maria Sanford Chapter, NSDAR honors America 250! by participating in the Mendota Days annual parade. Chapter members will carry America 250! banners to honor our country's history and the DAR. Prior to the parade in historic Mendota, 550 small flags will be distributed to families lined up to watch the parade and wave this symbol of America. Chapter members will throw patriotic red, white and blue candy along the parade route from a decorated truck. After the parade from 12:30-4:00 the chapter offers education about our Maria Sanford chapter, provide genealogy support, and historic lawn games for children at the historically preserved Sibley Site that was saved by the DAR. This event is free and open to the public.
