November 8 @ 12pm
Join the DAR Museum as we learn about the experiences of white women who profited from their commercial activities within nineteenth-century slave markets. By engaging in slave market activities and providing goods and services that supported the work of slave traders, white women helped to sustain the slave market economy and they contributed to slavery’s perpetuation in the process.
Speaker: Stephanie E. Jones-Rogers, Associate Professor of History, University of California, Berkeley
