Historical Significance:
Served as the Illinois Governor's Mansion during Joseph Duncan's term 1834-1838. Ellen Hardin Walworth, NSDAR founder, spent a great deal of time in the Mansion with the Duncan children. Abraham Lincoln served his first term, as State Representative, under his friend Gov. Duncan. In 1920, our chapter obtained ownership on the of the Mansion and site.
