American Spirit Recognized by APEX for the 10th Consecutive Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The results of the 24th Annual Awards for Publication Excellence (APEX) competition were announced in early July, revealing that for the 10th straight year APEX has honored American Spirit. The Grand Award in the Nonprofit Magazines and Journals category, was given for the March/April 2012 issue, the second annual edition devoted to Women’s History Month.

One APEX judge commented: "As spectacular as ever, this is a richly designed and beautifully written magazine. Striking spreads feature elegant typography, exceptional illustrations and photos, and interesting, thought-provoking feature articles.”

The magazine also received an APEX Award of Excellence for Feature Writing for “The Book of Lives,” an article about family Bibles that appeared in the July/August 2011 issue.

APEX Awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence. APEX Grand Awards honor the outstanding works in each main category, while APEX Awards of Excellence recognize exceptional entries in each of the individual categories. Only 100 of the nearly 3,400 entries received Grand Awards in honor of outstanding work.
