Description
The Constantia Chapter, NSDAR (serving Suffolk and Franklin), invites the public to Patriots in the Park: Commemorating the First Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 8, 2026, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at Downtown Festival Park. This special America 250! event marks the 250th anniversary of the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence, delivered on July 8, 1776, in Philadelphia.

The evening will feature an official reading of the Declaration of Independence, Presentation of Colors by the Civil Air Patrol, and live music by The Second Ending Brass Quintet, along with fife and drum performances. Guests will enjoy living history demonstrations portraying colonial life, including soldiers, women and children, African Americans, and Indigenous peoples, as well as hands-on activities, merchants, and traditional “All-American Picnic” fare.

Join us as we honor the birth of our nation and Illuminate Our Legacy through this immersive, family-friendly celebration. Free and open to the public.
