Description
The Isaac Van Wart Chapter, NSDAR, will celebrate America 250! during the annual Peony Festival in Van Wert, Ohio, held the first weekend in June. This long-standing community tradition features a variety of activities, including a queen contest that serves as a preliminary event for the Miss Ohio Pageant, arts and crafts vendors, historical displays, patriotic musical performances by the Van Wert Community Band, food trucks, and more.

As part of the festivities, the Isaac Van Wart Chapter, NSDAR, will participate in the parade with a special America 250! themed float. Decorated in red, white, and blue and featuring colonial-costumed DAR members, the float will include Betsy Ross sewing a flag and Revolutionary War patriot Isaac Van Wart accompanying the group. Also on display will be busts of Revolutionary War heroes Isaac Van Wart, John Paulding, and David Williams, whose capture of Major John André helped secure a pivotal American victory. Isaac Van Wart, for whom both the city and county are named, remains a source of local pride and Revolutionary War heritage.
