Description
In celebration of America 250!, the Shawnee Trail Chapter, NSDAR, invites the community to a Liberty Tree Dedication Ceremony on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Frontier Park near the new Prosper Veterans Memorial.

A newly planted Chinkapin oak will be officially dedicated as Prosper’s America 250! Liberty Tree, honoring the historic Liberty Trees that symbolized freedom during the Revolutionary era. This living tribute will stand as a lasting reminder of the courage and sacrifice of America’s founders.

The ceremony will feature the National Anthem and Color Guard, a public reading of the Declaration of Independence by a local high school theater student in honor of its first public reading on July 8, 1776, remarks by the Mayor of Prosper, and the official Liberty Tree dedication. The Mayor will also receive a DAR Commendation Certificate and Medal recognizing his efforts to highlight Revolutionary War patriots and America’s founding heritage.

All are welcome!
