Description
In celebration of America 250!, the Poage Chapter, DAR, will host a “Sign the Declaration” tent during the City of Ashland’s "Pancakes with Patriots" celebration in Central Park. The community is invited to stop by for an interactive and family-friendly experience honoring the courage and vision of the Signers, Founders, and Patriots of 1776.

Visitors will have the opportunity to read a replica of the Declaration of Independence and symbolically add their names to commemorative signature boards in tribute to those who boldly signed the historic document. Special guests will include a living history interpreter portraying Thomas Jefferson, along with DAR members dressed in colonial attire.

Guests may also enjoy a reading of "Her Name Was Mary Katharine," sharing the story of the only woman whose name appeared on the Declaration of Independence. Bookmarks featuring a quote from the Declaration and pocket copies of the Constitution and Declaration will be distributed while supplies last.

Following the celebration, the replica Declaration and signature boards will be proudly carried by DAR members in the community’s July 4th parade, extending the spirit of patriotism throughout the holiday festivities. This event is free and open to the public.
