Description
In celebration of America 250!, the Reverend John Andrew Chapter, NSDAR will participate in and help host a community-wide Semiquincentennial celebration on June 6, 2026, for the residents of Oconee County, Georgia. Designed as a “History on the Lawn” experience, this family-friendly event will bring Revolutionary-era history to life through interactive demonstrations, hands-on learning, and patriotic activities for all ages.

Visitors will enjoy exhibits showcasing historic trades and skills such as sheep shearing, blacksmithing, spinning, butter making, toy making, and Revolutionary War reenactments, including a women’s camp tent. The event will also feature patriotic storytelling for children, historic and patriotic books available through the local library, Founding Documents-themed activities, and displays celebrating Revolutionary War patriots.

The Reverend John Andrew Chapter, NSDAR, will host the Women’s Camp Tent and lead children’s activities including storytelling, bracelet-making, coloring a collaborative America 250! tablecloth, and patriotic crafts, with assistance from the chapter’s Junior American Citizens group. Patriotic toys, hand flags, and educational displays will help inspire excitement for America’s upcoming 250th birthday and foster appreciation for the nation’s founding. The event is free and open to the public.
