Description
The Brier Creek Chapter, NSDAR, will host an America 250! Celebration at the historic Dell-Goodall House on Saturday, June 20. Built in 1815, this remarkable home is owned by the chapter and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The house will be open for tours from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. At the top of each hour, visitors can enjoy a special living history presentation by (reenactor) "Lorenzo Dow," portraying the Methodist minister whose infamous curse on the county seat of Jacksonborough became part of local legend after town rowdies drove him away in 1821. Through this engaging portrayal, guests will learn about the colorful history and eventual decline of the once-thriving town—of which the Dell-Goodall House remains the sole surviving structure.

The celebration will also feature educational exhibits of Revolutionary War weaponry and artifacts, vendors, a food truck, a fundraising rummage sale, and a raffle for an America 250! themed party basket. Members of the Brier Creek SAR will participate in an opening ceremony at 10:15 a.m., including an honor guard, flag-raising, and cannon fire. Decorated in patriotic style, the Dell-Goodall House will provide a festive backdrop as the community gathers to commemorate America's 250th anniversary. This event is free and open to the public.
