The DAR Museum houses thirty period rooms that depict American homes from 1690 to 1930. Each room contains dozens of objects that open windows into the ways Americans thought, ate, drank, passed the time, learned, stayed warm, stayed clean and so much more. Create-A-Period Room takes a sampling of our period rooms and lets you become the curator.

Design a historically accurate parlor from 1820s New York, or mix and match pieces to create a beautiful living room full of antiques. Create a ballroom straight out of the works of Jane Austen or your favorite period drama. Will your room tell a story or display the most extravagant objects only? Test the wallpaper, the lighting, drag the furniture around (careful on the floors), save it or delete it and start again.
