Historical Significance:

ORIGINAL BURIAL GROUND OF EARLY SETTLERS, (1720's )  REV. WAR SOLDIERS, AND VAULT WITH UNKNOWN SOLDIER/ REMAINS FROM THE BATTLE OF SPRINGFIELD ON JUNE 23, 1780. ABOVE THE VAULT IS AN SAR MONUMENT DEDICATED TO ALL WHO FELL AT THE BATTLE OF SPRINGFIELD WHICH WAS DEDICATED IN 1896.  SAR transferred deed to Church and Cannon Chapter, NSDAR in 1954.  The chapter leads a public commemoration of the Battle of Springfield each year.
