Historical Significance
Built on a bluff overlooking Watson’s Creek, the Isaac Watson House was built in 1708, and is recognized as the oldest house in Mercer County. It serves as the headquarters of the New Jersey State Society of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was restored by NJDAR in 1964, as part of the New Jersey Tercentenary Celebration.
Isaac Watson was the son of Quakers who came to this country from England in 1684. The furniture now displayed in this fine stone house antedates 1790, and several pieces were made by New Jersey craftsmen. In addition, many articles in the home were donated by New Jersey Daughters.

Acknowlegement
The Isaac Watson House is the state headquarters of the New Jersey Daughters of the American Revolution (NJDAR). In 1964, the NJDAR funded a major restoration of the building as it had stood vacant for some time & although the stone exterior was in good condition the entire interior needed rebuilding or rehabilitation. The Founders Committee in 2017 funded the mold remediation and replacement of the HVAC system. The mission of the Founders Committee shall be to maintain the interior of premises located at 151 Wescott Ave, Hamilton, NJ (Watson House), as State Headquarters for the use, convenience & accommodation of the chapters of the DAR throughout the State of New Jersey; open it to the public, and is to be known as the “New Jersey State Headquarters DAR."
