Historical Significance:
The original marker, in honor of George Washington's Bicentennial birthday, was placed Cushing Chapter, NSDAR, on February 22, 1932, at Memorial Park in Cushing. As a part of the National Bicentennial Celebration to plant 10 million trees across the country, a project launched by the American Tree Association, at the time of the marker dedication Cushing Chapter had planted 14 Chinese Elm trees at Memorial Park. After the 90 year-old marker was cleaned by the chapter, Cushing Chapter rededicated the marker on May 18, 2022.
