Old Post House

Historical Significance:

The Old Post House is one of the oldest buildings in Montgomery, Tennessee. It was originally used as a stop for stagecoaches. In 1945, it was deeded by an Act of Congress.

  • Marker Text: 3C 49 Old Post House Located at Oak Grove, midway between Clarksville and Hopkinsville, Kentucky, the Old Post House served as a stop for the triweekly stagecoaches which operaged between Nashville and the Ohio River towns. This building was erected in the 1830s or earlier and has also been used as a post office, church storeroom, and residence.
