Historical Significance:

Richard Montgomery, noted American Revolutionary War General, and his wife, Janet, lived in this house when he took command of the northern forces to roust the British troops from Canada. He was the first American General of the Revolutionary War killed in 1775 at the Battle of Quebec.

Acknowledgements: The Chancellor Livingston Chapter, NSDAR owns, operates, and maintains the General Richard and Janet Montgomery Home as a chapter house and museum. The chapter has regularly scheduled events and docent led tours.
