When preparing for your trip to DAR Headquarters, please remember to plan ahead. Scheduling your visit as far in advance as possible allows us to reserve the day you choose or to notify you of conflicts. On occasion, major events or security concerns in the nation's capital can lead to street closings and worse-than-normal traffic congestion. Stay updated on weather conditions and the general condition of the city to help eliminate any inconveniences for your group. Also DAR Headquarters including the Library and the Museum are closed on all Federal Holidays (and all Ferderal Holidays Observed).
All visitors to NSDAR Headquarters are required to wear a DAR Visitor's badge. Visitors will also be subject to security screenings.
DAR Headquarters is one of the largest buildings of its kind owned and maintained exclusively by women. Please enjoy your group's visit to our beautiful buildings, and take the time to explore our many collections.

Visits to the DAR Museum
The DAR Museum tells the story of the American home through objects dating from the 17th through the early 20th centuries. The Museum has thirty-one Period Rooms and two galleries. The Main Gallery features our current exhibition, and the Yochim Gallery showcases objects from our decorative arts collection.
The Museum is open Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 4 pm and Saturday 9 am – 5 pm.
Daily admission is FREE.
Experience the DAR Museum by yourself or with a guide. Take a free docent-guided tour Monday – Friday 10 am – 2:30 pm and Saturday 9 am to 4 pm. Tours begin at the top and bottom of the hour and last about 45 minutes. Pick up a map and visit the Museum on your own, or pick up a “Design Your Tour” brochure with suggestions on visiting rooms based around a theme.
For groups of ten or more, we ask that you kindly book in advance for a guided tour. We offer a guided tour of our Period Rooms or a guided tour of our current exhibition. Contact Museum staff at 202.879.3241 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
