Built in 1939 by the Work Progress Administration (WPA), an employment and infrastructure program created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1935. City Council donated the lot and the original cost was $8,000. In the 1990's inside was updated with the help of Frank McCall, renowned local architect. Has been the site of monthly DAR meetings, many community-wide gatherings, DAR Historic Preservation award presentations, luncheons honoring local dignitaries, teas honoring brides and other wedding related parties. The stone fireplace is built of large GA fieldstone, the walls of tongue and groove pine, and the floors are solid oak.
