Historical Significance:
Highland County, Ohio is within the boundaries of the Virginia Military District and was settled by many families of Revolutionary Soldiers. In 1930, members of the Waw-wil-a-way Chapter, NSDAR placed a bronze marker on the south wall of the Highland County Courthouse. This brick courthouse was built in 1834, and today is the oldest courthouse in the State of Ohio in continuous use.
