Historical Significance:
The Hull's Trail marker recognizes the route cut through the wilderness in 1812 by General William Hull and his army during the War of 1812. Hull’s forces carved a military road from Urbana, Ohio, toward Detroit. When they reached the Blanchard River, Hull ordered Colonel James Findlay to build a fort—Fort Findlay—on the site of present‑day Findlay. The trail and fort were key components of early military logistics in northwest Ohio.
Funded By:
The Hancock County Engineer's Office primarily handles maintenance, as the marker is situated on land involving both public and private ownership.
